THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE
The Bowen Technique is a unique therapy which originated in Australia, where it has been used for over 40 years to successfully treat apeople with a wide rrange of problems. It is an exceptionally gentle, natural and holistic method which involves the therapist applying subtle but precise moves with the fingers and thumbs over soft tissue. it can be done through very light clothing or on skin. Between the moves there are pauses to allow the body to assimilate the information and begin to respond. There is little or no discomfort - there is no force, no heavy pressure, no needles and no forceful adjustments of joints.

REIKI
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a system of natural hands-on healing originating in Japan. Reiki means "universal life energy", the vital energy around and within all living things.
The method of receiving Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position. The main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible.
There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.
A full treatment usually takes 1 to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes.
A trained Reiki Master/Teacher in the Usui Tradition, Joy works at the very highest level. Training can be given for those wishing to be attuned to the Reiki energies and details will be sent upon request.
THE FIRST DEGREE (OR SHODEN) LEVEL, is about your own self-healing and is suitable for anyone. It teaches you how to apply Rieki to yourselve and also how to treat friends and family with hands-on healing.
The training includes:
The history of Reiki
The five principles (or precepts) of Reiki
What Reiki is
Effects and uses of Reiki
Contra indications and limitations to Reiki (although there are very few!)
Hand positions for treatments
Working on the "hara centres" of the body
Guidance on possible reactions to Reiki self-healing
Four attunements to the Reiki energy
Meditation
Thoughts on self development
THE SECOND DEGREE (OR OKUDEN) LEVEL enables you to channel stronger energy and is 'practitioner' level.
It teaches you how to incorporate the use of sacred symbols into a Reiki treatment and how to send distant healing.
The training includes:
Learning the three Reiki symbols
Treating clients
Guidelines for being a practitioner
Beaming and scanning
Distance healing
Three attunements to higher levels of energy
Meditation
It is recommended to leave a minimum of 3-6 months after Reiki 1 before moving on to Reiki 2 to allow the new energy to settle in your body, and to enable you to get used to working with the hand positions and the Reiki energy.
The Third Degree (Shinpiden)is the Master/ Teacher level and is the final stage of Reiki training.
The enables you to work with the master energies and attune others to the Reiki?s healing energy.
The training includes:
Learning the Master symbol
Learning the Attunement symbol
Learning how to give attunements
Preparing the room and yourself
Meditation
One final attunement to the higher levels of energy
The transition period should be at least one year after Reiki 2 to allow the higher levels of energy to settle and to understand the principles and importance of Reiki in everyday life. However, everyone is different and timings can vary depending upon your experience.
